Abstract
The article with the involvement of archival documents recreated the history of the begining and development of surgery for coronary heart disease (CHD) in Bakoulev National Medical Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation during more than 60 years. Starting in the 1950s – 1960s from the development of methods of indirect myocardial revascularization with chronic coronary insufficiency, by 2010 Center staff has mastered all modern methods of treatment of acute and chronic myocardial ischemia, including systemic coronary bypass surgery, transmyocardial laser revascularization, off-pump procedures, hybrid interventions as well as surgery for complications of ischemic heart disease. The leaders in the development of new methods were A.N. Bakoulev, V.I. Burakovsky, A.V. Pokrovsky, V.S. Rabotnikov and other surgeons.
