Abstract
The present review is devoted to one of the most debatable problem of contemporary cardiology
- conservative treatment of patients with ischemic heart disease complicated by chronic
heart failure. Historic development steps of external counterpulsation are described, experience
of clinical application of this method for patients with failure ischemic heart disease and chronic
heart is considered. Its high efficiency in the treatment of ischemic heart disease is reflected
however application advisability of this noninvasive technique in the complex treatment of
patients with ischemic heart disease complicated by chronic heart failure is not proven demonstratively
and requires further comprehensive studies to specify efficiency and safety of external
counterpulsation for chronic heart failure
