Abstract
The review presents the results of scientific research carried out on 95 complex topics within 10 targeted
research programmes in A.N. Bakoulev Scientific Center for Cardiovascular Surgery in 2015. The efficiency
of introducing new methods of diagnostics and treatment into clinical practice is analyzed. The activities
of structural subdivisions of the Center for the development of high-tech methods of diagnostics and treatment,
the creation of new biological prostheses and other materials for cardiovascular surgery are assessed.
The immediate and follow up results of surgical and endovascular interventions for various cardiovascular
diseases in adults and children including newborns are evaluated. For the first time in the history of the
Center the number of 5.000 operations with extracorporeal blood circulation is exceeded.
