Abstract
The article focuses on the history of the department of vascular surgery of A.N. Bakoulev Scientific Center for
Cardiovascular Surgery over the period of last 10 years. It begins with an overview of the period from 2003
when the Division of vascular surgery was reorganized and divided into 3 branches – Department of surgical
treatment of arterial diseases, Department of surgical treatment of cerebrovascular diseases and Department
of Surgical treatment of venous diseases and finishes with the achievements of each department by the period
of 2015. Clinical and scientific advances during observed period are presented separately. The emphasis is
done on the search of the paths of progress in the field of scientific researches and achievements in clinical
work. The article presents some interesting facts from the life of each department in the past decade.
