Abstract
Cardiac foreign bodies are rare. In most cases this situation is met when infusion systems are retained in the
veins for a prolonged period and when there is technical error in placement of CVC during emergency and/or
not standard situations. In this review, we write about an operation of a rare case to remove a foreign body
(part of central venous catheter) which perforated the right auricle into the pericardium. One part of the foreign
body was in the right atrium, the other was in the pericardium and was infected. The operation was done
on cardiopulmonary bypass, this allowed to completely remove the foreign body and adequately sanitize the
cavity of the right atrium.
