Abstract
The present clinical case and a literature review describing the surgical treatment of a patient with left atrial appendage aneurysm. To search for scientific articles, we used the PubMed database, the Google Scholar search engine, as well as cited references. The corresponding goals of the publication review were selected for the period from 1962 to 2019 according to the terms: “left atrial appendage aneurysm”, “left atrial appendage dilatation”, “pathogenesis”, “diagnosis”, “treatment”. Inclusion criteria were limited mainly to the management of patients with left atrial appendage aneurysm. An analysis of the literature showed that left atrial appendage aneurysm is a rare pathology of the heart with potentially fatal complications. Surgical treatment is indicated for all patients to prevent the development of atrial fibrillation, systemic embolism or myocardial dysfunction.
