Abstract
This article presents to the clinical and industrial transfusiology of the Department of Clinical and Industrial Transfusiology and Diagnostic Laboratory of the Bakoulev National Medical Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery. The collection and processing of blood cells is automated at the Blood Transfusion Department. All methods are employed to reduce the risk of blood transfusions and improve blood product safety. Optimization on human and material resources in the Blood Transfusion Department results in cost cutting and enabling to capture more profits. The Department of Clinical Transfusiology actively implements the principles of patient blood management. Specific preparation procedures for subsequent surgical treatment are performed for cardiosurgical patients with preoperative anemia and iron deficiency. Differentiated therapy treatment of bleeding is also introduced. Eight technologies were already introduced, two scientific papers are prepared for publication. Importantly, analysis of more than 1,500 patients who underwent cardiac surgery after treatment of preoperative anemia is now started. There are thirteen research papers and two methodological recommendations have been published, and one patents for invention were obtained.
