Abstract
Objective: to describe the possibility of recanalization of the radial artery by distal transradial access. The study is based on a single clinical case in Bakoulev National Medical Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery. The object of the study is a patient with post-catheterization occlusions of the radial arteries in both hands. On initial examination – palpation – the pulsation on the radial arteries above the styloid process was absent on both hands. The patient was performed ultrasonography and angiography of the radial artery, where there was no antegrade blood flow in the radial arteries. The patient was performed the recanalization of occlusion of the right radial artery by the distal transradial access from the anatomical snuffbox in Bakoulev National Medical Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery. The clinical case showed the efficacy, safety and convenience of using the distal radial access for performing recanalization of the radial artery. In case if there are contraindications and unavailability of other approaches, this technique of radial artery recanalization can be used.
