Abstract
During the reporting year 2021, the Department of X-Ray Surgery and Intraoperative Diagnosis and Treatment of Arrhythmias of Bakoulev National Medical Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery treated 3,553 procedures for 2,275 patients: 1,374 diagnostic and 2,179 therapeutic procedures (1,973 surgeries and 206 therapeutic manipulations (implantation of a temporary electrode, electrical impulse therapy, etc.). The overall dynamics of the department’s interventional work increased compared to the previous year, and during this period, a record number of patients were operated on compared to all years of work. There were 1280 radiofrequency ablation and 693 implantations of antiarrhythmic devices. The total number of complications was 21 cases (1.46% of the total number of operations). There was no lethality.
Based on the materials of ongoing scientific and practical work, 15 articles were published in 2021, including 3 clinical recommendations. The staff of the department, together with leading specialists of the Russian Federation in the field of treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, took part in the development of standards for the treatment of patients with ventricular and supraventricular tachycardia, bradyarrhythmias and atrial fibrillation. In 2021, work on the complex topic was continued: “Assessment of functional and electroanatomical changes in the atrial myocardium during interventional treatment of various forms of atrial fibrillation.”
