Abstract
The purpose of this publication: to present the results of the medical and scientific work of the Clinical and
diagnostic department for year 2017.
The Clinical and diagnostic department is one of the largest divisions of the A.N. Bakoulev National Medical
Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery. From its foundation to the present time, the permanent head
of this Department is a follower of Academician Vladimir I. Burakovskiy, Academician of the Russian
Academy of Sciences Yuriy I. Buziashvili. The department has a powerful clinical base and is equipped with
a number of unique technologies in the field of diagnosis and treatment of different categories of patients
with coronary artery disease.
A wide range of diagnostic procedures, medical and surgical interventions are performed at the base of the
department. In recent years, the number of patients treated in the department and surgical activity has
increased significantly. Every year the number of operations with artificial blood circulation and the number
of surgical interventions without cardiopulmonary circulation is steadily increasing.
