Abstract
Elderly patients with valvular heart disease and coronary atherosclerosis are considered one of the most difficult categories of patients in cardiac surgery. The risk of surgical intervention in this group is significantly higher than in younger patients, which is due not only to age-related changes, but also to concomitant extracardial diseases and the prevalence of multifocal atherosclerosis. The presented article describes in detail the main problems in the surgery of elderly patients with coronary heart disease and valvular heart disease, studied the immediate and long-term results of surgical treatment, reviewed the main preoperative and intraoperative predictors of hospital mortality.
