Abstract
A case of treatment of aortic coarctation in a 48-year-old woman with a long history of severe symptomatic arterial hypertension complicated by the development of a giant aneurysm of the left subclavian artery is presented. The given clinical example demonstrates the importance of a comprehensive examination of patients with a long history of hypertension, a high likelihood of developing severe complications of the natural course of congenital aortic coarctation, the undeniable role of modern methods of visualizing the pathology of the aorta and its branches, and the importance of an optimized strategy of systemic organ protection in surgical treatment. The features of this clinical case are the combination of coarctation of the aorta with an aneurysm of the left subclavian artery, the patient’s gynecological history, including 10 pregnancies, 5 births by physiological delivery. After surgical correction of the defect, a significant decrease in blood pressure was achieved, however, in the future, a significant proportion of these patients need long-term followup in order to correct residual arterial hypertension.
