Abstract
Aortic coarctation is one of the most common congenital heart defects. Stenting of the narrowing area is recognized by many experts as the most preferred method for the treatment of patients with this pathology. However, due to the frequent presence of unfavorable anatomical conditions and stable treatment results, open surgical options for intervention remain the traditional way to eliminate coarctation of the isthmus of the aorta. One of the main complications in this case is aortic recoarctation, the frequency of which, according to various data, ranges from 4 to 30% and depends on various factors. An important role in the development of this complication is played by technical errors in the reconstruction of the aorta. The treatment of patients with aortic recoarctation is a complex task that requires a detailed preoperative discussion of treatment tactics and the choice of the optimal method of correction. The article describes a clinical case of a patient with recoarctation and aneurysm of the poststenotic thoracic aorta, the cause of which was a discrepancy in the diameter of the prosthesis-aorta during the correction of native aortic coarctation.
