Abstract
In patients who are diagnosed with refractory angina pectoris, the use of optimal therapy regimens, as a rule, does not lead to a positive result, such patients are accompanied by a constant feeling of incapacity and persistent angina attacks. The study of the mechanisms of myocardial ischemia and the pathways linking ischemia with the subjective perception of angina indicates a complex model of interactions between the heart and the brain in creating the symptoms of the disease. Violation of these mechanisms may be of particular importance in refractory angina pectoris, as it may cause a suboptimal response to traditional anti-ischemic drugs in this population. This article reviews the pathophysiological mechanisms of pain symptoms in angina pectoris, because an understanding of the causes of angina attacks will help improve the quality of life of such patients.
