Abstract
Objective – to assess the possibilities of intraoperative transesophageal (TEE) three-dimensional echocardiography when performing reconstructive operations on the mitral valve in patients with organic mitral insufficiency.
Material and methods. The study included 42 patients with organic mitral valve pathology. Initially, all patients had pronounced mitral insufficiency and relative moderate tricuspid insufficiency. Intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography was performed using a multiplaned transesophageal transducer using three-dimensional recon- struction technology on a Vivid E9 apparatus before and after the main stage of the operation.
Results. Data of three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography made it possible to estimate the extent of valve damage, plan the volume of surgical intervention and assess the consistency of valves in the postoperative period.
Conclusion. We studied our own results of using intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography with three-dimen- sional technologies. It is shown that intraoperative TEE allows to determine accurately the amount of reconstructive surgery on the mitral valve and effectiveness of the performed surgical intervention.
