Abstract
In recent decades, the study of English for special purposes (ESP) has become very important in Russia, in particular, among medical professionals. This phenomenon is associated with the ever-growing need of Russian medical specialists to work with foreign scientific literature and the need to interact with foreign colleagues and engage in the global scientific community. The formation and improvement of skills of professional communication is one of the most important areas of professionally-oriented language training in the Institute for High Qualification Medical Staff Training and Professional Education of Bakoulev National Medical Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery. In this regard, the Institute for High Qualification Medical Staff Training and Professional Education has created training courses in medical English, which meet the specific needs of students and allow them to practice various situations of professional communication, such as: communication and examination of the patient, communication with the patient's family, participation in an international conference, presentation of their scientific research, curriculum vitae writing, solving various medical problems with foreign colleagues, etc. Communicative skills acquired by students during the training in the training courses in medical English open up great prospects for professional development and growth of students.
