Abstract
The results of this study demonstrated the prognostic significance of the level of brain natriuretic
peptide (BNP) in patients with valvular and coronary heart disease risk of developing heart
failure (HF) and adverse cardiovascular events 6-12 months after surgery correction of valvular
heart disease and myocardial revascularization.
The analysis showed there is significant correlation between baseline BNP and functional class
(NYHA) of patients at 6-12 months аfter correction valvular heart disease and myocardial
revascularization.
Level of BNP before surgery more than 607.76 pg/ml (p=0.0022) significantly predicted the
development of heart failure 6-12 months after surgery in patients with valvular heart disease.
On survival in up to 12 months had a significant negative impact only the level of BNP over 1600
pg/ml (p=0.025) patients in group 1. For patients of group 2 were unable to determine factors
influencing survival.
