Abstract
We studied the role of aggressive lipid-lowering pharmacotherapy in 169 elderly patients
after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in dynamic of structural and functional
atherosclerotic remodeling of extracranial arteries. After simvastatin 40 mg/day, we registered
stabilization of atherosclerotic process in 65 patients with optimal initial level of low-density
lipoproteins (LDL) along with reduction of LDL-level in 28.8% and elevation of HDL-level in
3.75%. Then 46 patients with high LDL-level and 58 patients with moderate high LDL-level
after rosuvastatin 10 mg/day and combination of atorvastatin 20 mg/day with esetimib
10 mg/day had the same regress and stabilization of atherosclerotic process in brahiocephalic
arteries along with reduction of LDL-level in 56.8% and 45.7% and elevation of
HDL-level in 9.5% and 9.2% respectively
