Abstract
Introduction. The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) became a serious health care problem in the world
wide. According to the published epidemiological data of the World Health Organization, more than 40 million
people are living with the immunodeficiency virus. The morbidity and mortality in patients with HIV
infection who require cardiovascular surgery is unknown. It is not enough publications in literature due to
HIV and is limited number of patients that were included in available studies. In early postoperative period
all this factors do not allow us to draw conclusions on the influence of perioperative complications and
immunosuppression. Aim — to analyze immediate results of surgical treatment of heart valve disease in HIV
23 patients undergone.
Material and methods. This work summarizes a series of observations of 23 HIV-infected patients with abnormal
heart valves, operated from January 2009 to June 2014. HIV infection was confirmed by serology. All
patients had a history of drug abuse. Indicators of CD4+ from 106 to 841 cells /mm3.
Results. There was no hospital mortality. No infection occur. All patients were discharged with good condition.
Conclusion. Cardiopulmonary bypass in HIV patients does not degrade the prognosis and does not affect at
immune status in early postoperative period. The prediction of the natural course of the disease without correction
should be the main factor that you must consider when planning operations in this category of
patients.
