Abstract
Objective — to develop a closed methodology correcting pathological deformation of the carotid artery in animal
experiments.
Material and methods. Implantation of 4 samples biological prosthetics 4th sexually mature pigs weighing
35,5 ± 4,5 kg position right or left carotid artery in vivo.
Results. 1 case was used nitinol stent frame with slitting and S-shaped links. Due to the low lateral stability
does not guarantee the maintenance of a stable shape and cross-section of an artery in the wrapping. In the
2nd - nitinol stent frame with slitting and high lateral stability. But a greater degree of trauma on stage and
wrapping a high risk of pressure sores at the site of contact with the adventitia. In the 3rd - polyamide spiral,
which showed a high degree of trauma at the stage of the serial stringing together an artery. In experiment
4 was used linear PTFE prosthesis with reinforcement throughout. It allows you to remove an excess artery
due to increased tortuosity angle while maintaining the overall length of the vessel. This has the properties of
good biocompatibility and low thrombogenicity.
Conclusion. The optimal framework for the closed method of correction of pathological tortuosity of the
extracranial carotid arteries is a linear PTFE prosthesis with reinforcement throughout. However, we must
continue to study to assess changes in the linear velocity of blood flow before and after the wrapping and the
development of complications at the site of implantation in chronic experiments.
