Abstract
The literature review presents a modern view on the problem of surgical treatment of CHD patients aged 70 years
and older. Considered many questions, including: features of the clinical signs and symptoms of ischemic
heart disease, types of surgery, the structure of morbidity and mortality, and risk factors. It is concluded that
patients of CHD age group 70 years and older have a number of features that need to be considered in
the process of surgical treatment. The latter include: low functional reserves of the organism, due to the high
frequency and variety of comorbidities, such as multifocal atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus type II, chronic
renal failure. In addition, for this group characteristic is the high degree of operational risk associated with
a high frequency of acute coronary syndrome, a large percentage of women, the presence of concomitant
lesions of the brachiocephalic arteries, heart valves, controversial and poorly understood estimates of remote
results of surgical treatment, and the presence in these patients of a significant number of cognitive disorders
that reduce the effectiveness of direct myocardial revascularization.
