Abstract
Aim – to identify key aspects of preoperative assessment of patients for cardiac surgery to improve early
results of the procedure.
Material and methods. The protocols of preoperative assessment of patients for the open-heart surgery, based
on the analysis of predictors and risk factors for adverse outcomes were implemented in the clinical practice
from 2015 year. The protocols result were assesed in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting
(CABG) and valve correction procedure in 2015–2016 years. A comparative analysis of the short-term
results of CABG and valve correction procedures in 2011 (without protocols) and 2015–2016 was conducted.
Results. The introduction of standardized algorithms, including a careful analysis of the risk factors for cardiosurgical
interventions and corrective measures implementation decreases hospital mortality rate, as well
as well as hospitalization duration.
Conclusion. Preoperative assessment of patients for cardiosurgical interventions can improve short-come
results of cardiosurgical interventions.
