Abstract
Frequency of vascular rings is 0.5–1% of all congenital heart defects. One of the vascular rings types is combination of right aortic arch with the aberrant (retroesophageal) left subclavian artery. Most often it manifests with respiratory disorders (cough) and dysphagia due to compression of trachea and/or esophagus by abnormally located vessels. The prolonged existence of these complaints in a child is the reason for his accurate examination. In the diagnosis valuable information can be provided by X-ray examination, echocardiography. However, the most informative diagnostic method is computed tomography with intravenous contrasting. This case report presents the stages of diagnosis and subsequent successful surgical treatment of complete vascular ring in a child with right aortic arch and aberrant left subclavian artery.
