Abstract
The article introduce results of treatment and scientific activities of Department of surgical treatment of tachyarrhythmias
for last year as well as results of implementation research work outcomes into clinical practice. In the
report are presented preliminary results of complex topics. During the reporting year 1065 patients was being hospitalized, with overall lethality 0.1%. A total of 847 operations were performed, of which 44 operations were performed
with extracorporeal circulation (EC). The report reflects the results of surgical treatment of patients with
various forms of atrial fibrillation (AF). For increasing efficiency of treatment patients with long persistent AF
would be reasonable to perform operation “Labyrinth 3B” with EC and cardioplegia (CP). Hospital mortality after
operations under the conditions of EC and CP decreased compared to last year and amounted to 2.2%. The results
of scientific and practical activities are set out in the interim reports on complex topics and are reflected in the publications.
Special attention is paid to the study of the mechanism of arrhythmogenesis of AF and the search for predictors
of arrhythmia after surgical treatment. For this purpose, surface ECG mapping is used to search for zones
of “rotary activity” and new imaging techniques (speckle tracking echocardiography) reflecting the mechanical
function of the left atrium in this group of patients. Also with non-invasive surface electrophysiological mapping in
the reporting year, a continuing scientific study aimed at increasing the effectiveness of cardiac resynchronization
therapy among patients with chronic heart failure.
