Abstract
Objectives. The aim of the study was to explore the possibilities of three-dimensional echocardiography in
fetuses with double outlet right ventricle.
Material and methods. From 2012 to 2016, we carried out a retrospective study aimed to evaluate the features
of the location of the ventricular septal defect and interposition of the great vessels in fetuses with double outlet
right ventricle using 3D echocardiography. We selected only fetuses with the usual form of atrial morphology,
with atrioventricular concordance and relatively balanced left and right ventricles. The study
included 66 fetuses intended for further operative treatment.
Results. In all 66 cases were identified important features, including the location of ventricular septal defect
and its relationship to the atrioventricular valves and arterial vessels. At 19.7% of cases the defect was subaortic,
19.7% – subpulmonary, 9.1% – subarterial, 40.9% – uncommited, 10.6% – perimembranous. Moderate
pulmonary artery stenosis was detected in 34.9% of cases, 9.1% stenosis was expressed on the faces of atresia
of the pulmonary valve. In two (3.0%) cases we diagnosed atresia of the pulmonary valve.
Conclusion. The diagnostic accuracy of echocardiography in two-dimensional mode amounted to 83.3%, the
incremental diagnostic value of 3D echocardiography amounted to 16.6%.
