Abstract
Restrictive cardiomyopathy with isolated endomyocardial fibrosis of the right ventricle is a rare disease, the causes of which are diverse. The cardiotoxic effects of drugs used in chemotherapy for cancer can lead to damage of cardiomyocytes and the development of progressive endomyocardial fibrosis. The walls of the heart ventricles become rigid, their ability to relax to carry requested blood amount is disrupted, the myocardial contractility decreases over
time – ventricular dysfunction and signs of heart failure develop.
The paper presents a case of successful one and a half ventricular correction of right ventricular dysfunction in a 29-year-old patient with restrictive cardiomyopathy that occurred after treatment of lymphoblastic leukemia. The
patient underwent the right-sided bidirectional cavopulmonary anastomosis and tricuspid valve plasty on a soft supporting semi-ring made of PTFE under conditions of cardiopulmonary bypass, hypothermia and cardioplegia
(Custodiol). The patient's clinical condition improved – shortness of breath significantly decreased, regurgitation on the tricuspid valve was minimal at discharge. Further observation and accumulation of experience will allow us to
finally assess the correctness of our management.
