Abstract
This article will briefly highlight some aspects of extracorporeal blood purification in intensive care of cardiac surgery. Over the past decades, there have been tremendous changes in the approach to the use of blood purification in critically ill patients. Many blood purification methods are used for a number of pathological conditions. New promising technologies for blood purification appear today. This area of medicine is developing and spreading to different clinical directions.
The use of each method of blood purification in cardiac surgery requires careful research to assess not only the effectiveness, but also the safety of the procedure. The development of indications and a protocol for each method of blood purification, depending on the technology of mass transfer (convection, diffusion, filtration, sorption, and apheresis) in intensive care is fundamental.
