Abstract
In 2020, 701 patients were examined and treated in the department, which is significantly less than in previous years and is due to the epidemiological situation. Operations with artificial circulation (AC) were performed in 127 patients with a mortality rate of 3.9 (5). The overall mortality rate was 0.7%. The scientific activity of the department was carried out on 1 complex topic: “Surgical treatment of acquired heart diseases in patients with high risk factors for interventions” (completed in 2020, deadline 2018-2020), within which 1 dissertation work was tested. The complex topic “Development of an approach to the analysis of physiological reserve in elderly and old patients with valvular heart disease, stratification of the risk of surgical treatment, assessment of the quality of life before and after surgery” was approved in 2021, and as part of it, the preoperative physiological status was assessed in 353 patients were older than 60 years of age (≥ 60 years of age) and older than 75 years of age (≥ 75 years of age) who in the period from January 2019 to October 2020, carried out the correction of valvular heart diseases under the conditions of an AC. It was noted that most of the elderly and, especially, old patients who were in functional class (FC) III–IV according to New Yorks’ heart association (NYHA) before surgery, have a high risk of surgical treatment according to EuroSCORE (ES) II, according to the Edmont frail scale (EFI) questionnaire, patients were from vulnerable to moderate frail, according to Charlsons’ comorbidity index (CCI) they had an extremely high degree of comorbidity.
