Abstract
Cardiac tumors are not rare clinical conditions. The most common benign cardiac tumors are myxomas.
This article is a clinical case of surgical treatment of the patient with a giant left atrial myxoma.
Patient's complains were shortness of breath, weakness and fatigue. Echocardiography, magnetic resonance
imaging and coronary angiography were made before the operation. Obtained findings were conformed during
the operation. An operation of tumor's excision and mitral and tricuspid annuloplasty was performed.
Postoperative period was uneventful, without features. On the 7th day after operation patient was discharged.
Specificity of this clinical case was a large size of the tumor, which caused significant changes in intracardiac
hemodynamics, leading to critical stenosis of the mitral valve and impairment of atrioventricular valves function.
Therefore, detailed preoperative diagnostics and appropriate surgical intervention play a leading role in
the treatment of patients with cardiac myxomas.
