The article is devoted to the results of the scientific and clinical work of the Center in 2022. The past year for the entire medical community was marked by an important date – the 100th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding cardiac surgeon of our time, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences Vladimir Ivanovich Burakovsky. A solemn meeting was timed to coincide with this event, the opening of the museum – the memorial office of V.I. Burakovsky in the building of the Institute of Coronary and Vascular Surgery, reprint of the book «Knight of the Saved Heart».
The activities of all departments of the Center were analyzed in detail and presented in dynamics over three years, a detailed description of the surgical and interventional interventions performed in the reporting year in the areas (congenital heart defects, coronary heart disease, acquired heart defects, heart rhythm disturbances, vascular surgery, etc.), actual aspects of scientific work are reflected. In 2022, 27,870 patients were hospitalized and treated, 4,454 operations were performed under cardiopulmonary bypass. Research work was carried out within the framework of 62 applied research and 6 grants. The most significant results on the problems of diagnosis and surgical treatment of complex arrhythmias, complicated forms of coronary heart disease, congenital and acquired heart defects, and vascular pathology are reflected. Unique developments in the field of endovascular surgery, cardiology and imaging are shown, as well as innovative medical devices for cardiovascular surgery, which are being created by employees of the Department of Scientific Research and Pilot Production of Medical Devices for Cardiovascular Surgery. For the first time, a separate section presents the Center’s progress in the field of digital technologies, which includes the problems of artificial intelligence, medical information systems, forecasting and remote monitoring. For all sections of the multifaceted and relevant scientific activity, the directions of long-term development are determined.
The article evaluates the work of not only the scientific, clinical and diagnostic departments of the Center, but also educational, administrative and auxiliary structures. The innovations in the field of educational activities that were introduced in 2022 are presented in detail, in particular, a new format of intensive trainings was developed and successfully implemented, the fleet of simulators belonging to the class of robotic patients was updated and supplemented, work continued on the development, modernization and implementation of original simulators for cardiovascular surgery.
